I’ve decided to lose 5lbs of fat this week. Currently my wake up weight is 196lbs so by Saturday I’ll change that to 191lbs or less. It will be interesting to see how getting fitter will affect my sleep.
A few months ago my wake up weight was 212lbs and I’ve definitely felt better overall since dropping 16lbs. I wasn’t tracking my sleep during that process so I’m not sure how much losing weight has helped my sleep.
I’ll lose at least 5lbs this week by taking my favorite German sourdough and rye bread out of my diet for the week, ensuring that I eat at least 200 grams of high quality protein every day, have plenty of dietary fiber and healthy fats, not eat anything until around 11:00am each day and go on a long nature walk every morning.
I also have a tennis match scheduled for 5:30pm on Wednesday and the high output of energy that goes into that will also accelerate my weight loss this week.
My sleep was pretty good last night. I got 7h 2m out of 8h 40m in bed with an 81% efficiency score. All my sleep contributors were in the blue zone last night with the exception of restfulness which was fair. I’m going to have to boost my sleep efficiency to start scoring strong in restfulness.
I had 1h 23m of deep and 1h 13m of REM which I’m happy with. My average heart rate was 47bpm with a low of 42bpm. I feel strong and ready to go.
Now it’s time to lose some excess fat, and see if I can continue to improve my sleep. I’ve made great progress over the last month and looking forward to the journey ahead.
