Sleep Tracker – 8/7/2024

Success! I slept in… well, NEAR my bedroom last night. I actually started by pulling my own side mattress up next to our main bed to sleep there so I would have plenty of space to move around without disturbing my wife.

BUT about an hour into it, I started having ringing in my ears and body pain which is unusual for me. It could be psychosomatic, but I also have a suspicion that there is something energetic about the area near my side of the bed that is causing discomfort for me. I’ve noticed in the past in hotel visits that I have some sensitivity to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) and have experienced similar symptoms in trying to sleep there.

We also do a lot in our home to mitigate EMFs and don’t even use WIFI (everything is hardwired here) or have a Smart Meter, but EMFs are ultimately ubiquitous in suburban life coming from other homes, nearby 5G towers and other sources.

EMFs may or may not be the cause of my discomfort last night, but I decided to get up and move my mattress to inside our primary bedroom closet. I positioned it so that my head would be in the south direction which some schools of thought indicate is better for sleep due to Earth’s own electromagnetic forces.

From there, my discomforts faded and I slept pretty well overall. I’ve decided for now that this will be my new “sleep cave”. It is a win as it’s ultimately in the same general sleeping area as my wife, and is more quiet and comfortable than anywhere else I’ve been sleeping recently.

My sleep scores didn’t improve very much, but subjectively I know that once I settled into my new sleeping environment, I felt like I slept well and woke up feeling refreshed and ready to take on the day.

I had 1h 9m of deep and 38m of REM last night. Now that I know where I’ll be sleeping tonight and feel confident about it, let’s see if I can score higher and feel even better tomorrow.
