Sleep Tracker – 8/5/2024

My deep and REM sleep improved a little last night with 58m deep and 57m REM.

The night started rough for me as I was also trying a different bed for the first hour and a half and I was having a difficult time getting to sleep. After lying down around 9:30, I didn’t really get into a restorative sleep period until around midnight and that was after I switched back to my usual sleeping space.

Right now where I sleep is not ideal at all. It’s the couch. I’ve been sleeping on the couch in our family room for the last few months consistently, as I have been having trouble sleeping in bed with my wife.

My assessment of the primary reason for this is that I’ve been sleeping very light overall with a lot of wake ups and I’m very sensitive to sound and temperature. Our bedroom is a better sleeping environment overall as it is completely dark with black out curtains and kept very cool at around 67 degrees at night.

The noise in our bedroom from the AC system which resides just above our bed in the attic and breathing noise from my wife bother me enough to get up and leave the room early in the night after trying to sleep in bed.

I also don’t like it as cold in the room as my wife does and generally feel more comfortable at around 72 degrees. This contradicts some sleep logic that is often share that ideal sleep is usually achieved in a colder sleeping environment more in line with how my wife likes it in our bedroom.

I think for several reasons, it will be better for me to regain the ability to sleep in my bed with my wife and possibly when other factors of my sleep improve, or I also try using earplugs that I’m comfortable with, I’ll make the effort to once again sleep in our bed.

The only other factor I changed slightly last night was that I forgot to take a little Manuka Honey before bed. It is possible that Apigenin has a good effect on my sleep as both nights I’ve taken it recently, my sleep scores for deep and REM improved. I will continue to test with and without to see if this particular supplement helps me.

Pre-sleep supplements taken: 100mg Double Wood Apigenin, 2g Carlson Glycine, 3 capsules Global Healing Center Oxy-Powder
