When you’re awake during the night, acceptance can sound like you’re supposed to be okay with it. But acceptance isn’t about enjoying wakefulness or feeling happy when you can’t sleep.

Acceptance is about recognizing that you can’t make sleep happen through effort. The harder you try, the more pressure builds — and that pressure can become its own struggle.

Progress might mean noticing when you’re trying to force sleep, and gently stepping back from that fight. Not to like being awake — just to struggle a little less with insomnia when it shows up.
