Day 3: Nap Strategies & Building Sleep Skills (7–12 Months Sleep Training)

Welcome to Day 3 of the Sleep Sense Program for babies aged 7–12 months!

Today, we’re tackling a big topic: naps. Daytime sleep is just as important as nighttime rest—and better naps often mean better nights. We’ll talk about how to spot signs of overtiredness, build a nap routine, and keep the progress going as your baby develops independent sleep skills.

In this video, you’ll learn:
– Why overtiredness makes it harder for your baby to fall and stay asleep
– Signs to watch for like restlessness, crankiness, and hyperactivity
– How to start working toward a nap schedule (every ~3 hours is a good rule of thumb)
– Why the most important nap goal right now is simply getting baby to sleep in their crib
– What to expect on Night 3 as your little one’s self-soothing skills begin to shine

Here’s a sample daily schedule to guide you:
– 7:00 AM – Wake up & feed
– 9:00 AM – Solids + optional top-up feed
– 10:00–11:30 AM – First nap (feed after)
– 1:30 PM – Solids + top-up feed
– 2:30–4:00 PM – Second nap (feed after)
– 5:30/6:00 PM – Solids
– 7:00 PM – Bedtime with final feed
