5 Reasons Seniors Wake Up At Night (And How to STOP)
There are a number of factors that contribute to frequent nighttime awakenings – or what we sleep doctors call ‘fragmented sleep.’
Often times, these are things you are doing during the DAY that are making it harder for you to stay asleep AT NIGHT.
And unfortunately, it can be difficult to connect something we’re doing in the morning with our sleep problems we’re having at 3 o’clock in the middle of the night.
As you age you experience a natural change in your sleep patterns, resulting in less time in deep sleep. Therefore with more time spent in the lighter stages of sleep, you wake more easily.
So you really need to be setting yourself up during the DAY to get the deepest sleep you can at NIGHT. So what I thought I would do is start by talking about the key reasons you are waking up at night.
Then I will talk about some small, simple changes you can make RIGHT NOW to minimize the negative impact on your sleep, these factors are likely to have.
Finally, if that does not work, I will outline some more advanced strategies you can use to HOPEFULLY minimize those disruptions for good!
