Rearranging your life around sleep only feeds your insomnia and makes the problem worse
If you have chronic insomnia, it can be so tempting to cancel plans and try to conserve energy. Unfortunately, this usually makes insomnia worse because rearranging our lives around insomnia implies that we are somehow able to control sleep (when we can’t) and guarantees that a bad night of sleep will lead to a bad day.
In addition, when we are inactive we become more fatigued and we might end up trying to compensate for lost sleep by spending more time in bed — and this can further perpetuate insomnia.
